Federal Dress Workshop 2019

Federal Dress Workshop 2019

Have nothing new to wear to meet the President or Mr. Darcy? Why not make it yourself! Attend our 3-session workshop led by Jane Pease, local period clothing expert, presenting instructions for creating a Federal/Regency period gown perfect for the Birthnight or Jane Austen Balls. The workshops will focus on custom-fitting the basic gown and working with sheer, silky, and gauzy fabrics. Before the workshop begins, instructors will provide advice on fashionable styles and fabrics for the period and specify suitable patterns and materials. Students are responsible for purchasing their own fabric, pattern, and supplies and bringing them to the class.

For the intermediate sewer, hand stitcher. Students must have made at least one complete garment using a commercial pattern and have access to a sewing machine at home. Students will be expected to work at home between classes to complete the gown. Space is very limited; registration is required and will close December 15.
